These terms govern your use of PitchLab. By creating an account, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. What PitchLab does
PitchLab helps students contact university faculty about research opportunities. You tell us which university and research area you are interested in. We identify faculty publishing in that area, write an individual email to each one referencing their recent published work, and send those emails from your own Gmail account after review.
Emails send from your address. Replies go to your inbox. We are not a party to any correspondence that follows.
2. Your account
You must be at least 16 to use PitchLab, and you must give accurate information about yourself. The details in your profile appear in the emails we write, so inaccurate information means inaccurate emails.
You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at hello@pitchlab.me if you believe someone else has accessed it.
3. Credits and payment
How credits work. You buy credits in packs. One credit equals one email successfully sent. Credits are deducted when an email actually sends, not when you create a campaign.
Pricing. Prices are shown at the point of purchase and charged once. There is no subscription and no recurring charge.
Unused credits. Credits do not expire while your account is open. If we cannot find enough verified faculty addresses to use all your credits at one university, the remainder stays in your balance for another.
What a credit does not guarantee. A credit buys the sending of one email. It does not guarantee delivery to a monitored inbox, a reply, an interview, or a research position. No one can guarantee those.
4. Refunds
If we fail. If emails do not send because of a fault on our side, we will either reprocess your outreach at no charge or refund the affected credits. Your choice.
If an address fails. If an email cannot be delivered, that credit is returned to your balance.
If you change your mind. Contact us within 14 days of purchase and we will refund any unused credits. Credits already spent on sent emails cannot be refunded, because the emails have gone.
Quality concerns. If the emails we wrote are not what you expected, tell us within 24 hours of sending and we will rewrite the batch or refund it.

5. Your Gmail account
To send on your behalf, you grant us a single Google permission: send email. We cannot read your mail, your contacts, or your calendar. This is described in detail in our Privacy Policy.
You can disconnect at any time from your dashboard. Disconnecting stops any outreach that has not yet sent.
You are responsible for the content that goes out under your name. We write the drafts; you approve them; they send from your address.
6. Sending practices
We deliberately pace outreach across several days rather than sending everything at once. This protects your email account from being flagged by your provider. You cannot override this pacing, and we will not send faster on request.
We send only to faculty contact addresses that have been verified as deliverable. Where an address cannot be confirmed, we hold it back rather than risk your account reputation.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use PitchLab to send anything harassing, deceptive, threatening, or unlawful; to misrepresent who you are or your academic record; to send commercial solicitations; or to contact anyone who has asked not to be contacted.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches this section, without refund.
8. Faculty who contact us
Faculty members who do not wish to be included in our database can email hello@pitchlab.me and we will remove them. Removal means no PitchLab user can send to them thereafter.
9. Availability
We aim to keep PitchLab running but do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change or discontinue features. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will refund unused credits.
10. Our liability
PitchLab is provided as is. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost opportunities, lost research positions, or admissions outcomes. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
11. Ending your account
You may close your account at any time by emailing hello@pitchlab.me. Unused credits are refundable under section 4.
We may close an account that breaches these terms. Where the breach is not serious, we will give you notice and a chance to fix it first.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will email account holders before it takes effect. Continuing to use PitchLab after that means you accept the change.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States. Disputes will be handled by the courts of California, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally.
